Vidya Balan is a very promising and talented actress of bollywood industry. Unlike rest of the star cast, Vidya balan doesn’t belong to any film background, but still her unmatched talent and selfless devotion towards her acting has now brought her name in the list of most renowned actresses of bollywood. Starting her career from various music videos and commercial advertisement Vidya is now an award winning actress if Hindi cenema.

Vidya was born on January 1, 1978 in Tamil family in palaghat district of kerala. Her father was Vice president of ETC channel, Mr. P.R.Balan. Her mom is a housewife and has an elder sister named as Priya who has been married to a kedar. Vidya was born up in Mumbai and got her primary education from St. Anthony Girls High School and later completed her graduation in Sociology from St. Xavier`s college Mumbai. According to tradition Vidya and her sister priya learned Carnatic dance in their early days. From her childhood Vidya was a very spiritual girl and had a firm belief in God. In her early days Vidya use to be a fatty girl but her turn around towards modeling and movie career made her shed down all those extra pounds. She first appeared in a Malyalam movie, Chakram , opposite of an actor Mohanlal. Though this movie was detained for sometime and in mean while vidya acted in commercial add of surf excel. Vidya`s appearance in music videos of pankaj Udhas, Euphoria and Shubha Mudgal won critical acclaim. Vidya also showed her extraordinary talent by acting in TV serials, Hum Paanch and hanste Khelte.

Vidya first appeared on theatre from a Bengali movie , Bhalo Theke. Her outstanding performance in this film won her Anandlok Puraskar Best Actress award in kolkata. After this success Balan was hired to act in a lead role with the fabulous actor of this time Shaif Ali khan. Parineeta movie was based on a Bengali Novel of Sharat Chandra. However the film didn’t do so well but her performance was highly acclaimed and earned her the nomination for Female Best Actress Award.

After this breakthrough in bollywood industry Vidya got proposal to work with kamal hasan but she refused. In 2006 vidya gave a huge block buster hit with her, Lage Raho Munna bhai, cting opposite to Sanjay Dutt. The movie was a sequel to Munna Bhai MBBS and significantly achieved great applause from every class of society. In the present year 2007, her appearance in Mani Ratnam`s Guru as a handicraft girl also got critical acclaim. Subsequently after her performance in guru, she received great appreciation with the release of movie Hey Baby and Bhool Bhulaiya.
