In sequence to the post, Who is the best among Khans?, we present the next nomination-rockstar Salman Khan.

Though Salman Khan had a quiet debut in Biwi Ho To Aisi(1998), his classy act in Maine Pyar Kiya(1989) created an impression that showed that he is the future of Bollywood. However, barring a Saajan, Salman Khan did not have a single box office success till 1994. There was a time when he was called the jinxed actor and except for teenage girls who were besotted by the handsome Khan, no really bothered to watch his movies. Until Hum Aapke Hain Kaun gave a second lease of life to his career.

The year 1994 was Salman Khan’s year because he gave two of the biggest superhits ever for Bollywood, Karan Arjun and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! He managed to get a hit every year from 1996 to 1999 like Judwaa, Pyaar Kiya Toh Daarna Kya, Biwi Number 1 and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam .But the flops continued too, and most of Salman Khan began to fall like nine-pins after 1999. Between 1999 and 2002, there was a lean phase with Salman Khan being caught up in a volley of personal and legal problems. But the stress never showed on Salman Khan’s face because as girlfriend Katrina Kaif says, "Salman Khan is simply not afraid of anything". He never compromised on his work-outs. Personal problems actually brought the best out of Salman Khan.

Salman Khan’s hairstyle in Tere Naam(2003) which was a designer’s nightmare turned out to be an absolute favorite to the average boy on the street. The movie became a cult hit and a lot of people empathized with the humane side of the media’s bad boy. In 2004, the enviably sculpted body and drop dead good looks of Salman Khan earned him a place as the 7th best looking man in the world by People’s magazine. Salman Khan besieged with innumerable problems and hassles in life decided to go for movies which were light hearted and funny. In a recent interview, Salman Khan said the reason why he did not go for the kind of intelligent movies which an Aamir or Shahrukh go for, is because he wants the people to have fun, not analyse much and forget their worries in the three odd hours they sit in the theatre.

Taking this point of view along, Salman Khan focused on comedy and quite believably, his plan of action worked. He started to get choosy with projects and began to score huge hits at the box office. Salman Khan hit it big with Mujhse Shaadi Karoge (2004), No Entry(2005) and Partner(2007).

Salman Khan is the only actor in the current breed with the maximum number of flops but he is still the superstar in Bollywood. He is also the actor with huge hits to his name. This is a mark of a rockstar-Salman Khan’s popularity remains unfazed irrespective of box office behavior.

To sum it up: Salman Khan's strengths: A well sculpted body coupled with good looks that refuse to fade away. A confident demeanor.

Salman Khan's versatility proved in: Tere Naam and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
